fashion and portrait!

To what degree should an image manipulated to go into a fashion magazine?

No photo should be manipulated because to me it doesn't make the photo real, when being manipulated it causes great effect on young girls of today, there has been many weight issues over the last few years because of what modals look like. Many girls have become anorexic; end up depressed or even ended up on the deathbed. To be honest in my opinion, I think beauty is within natural things, its like having a skin product with natural liquids put into it, it will be good for your skin, where as if you put boosters or something into them it could make you go spotty, if you change anything in the world, you will always see a difference, no matter how big or little the change is. If fashions all about the cloths then they should not edit people at all, if they want it to be perfect then they should use dummies or shown in a different way, editing people can give them low self-esteem and make them change who they are or no reason at all apart from some picky people.

When is an image a Portrait when is it a fashion photograph?

You will always be able to tell when it’s a portrait or fashion photo as they are based on different things, fashion will always be based on the clothing item; the colour, size, texture and fit ect, where as portrait is based on the person in the photo and their facial expressions or emotions. It can also be based on a group of people, for example a family photo. Portraits are set up and the people are placed in position to show their different relationships, if a couple was in for a portrait they would be made to stand close, smile, maybe even kiss but this is all to show their love. They can wear whatever they feel best in, but most people dressed their best because it’s a portrait and you pay good money for them, as they are amazing quality and they are mainly placed in the homes of those who have had them done, mainly are sent to other members of the families as gifts. But portraits will be seen in house and magazines, to many are placed in magazines tho as magazines like to base pictures on fashion. I think they both have an inspiration to people, but at least with portrait you don’t have to worry about what people judging your looks and cloths, you can at natural and they are never edited to make yourself look skinny or look tanned or even remove spots ect. Where as fashion we all love the cloths or item that is being advertised and shown to us but many of the pictures have been airbrushed which to me shows how fake people can be and I think every and any photo that’s been taken should not be changed as when you snap that shot, that’s what you see and that’s the real beauty of it all.
